NOT FLESH OF MY FLESH,
OR BONE OF MY BONES;
BUT NEVERTHELESS
STILL MY OWN.

NEVER FORGET FOR A
SINGLE MINUTE;
YOU WEREN'T BORN
UNDER MY HEART
BUT IN IT.

Butterfly

A Symbol of Hope

A Symbol of Hope
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Footprints

One night a man had a dream.

He dreamed he was walking

along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes

from his life, for each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints
in the sand,

one belonging to him
the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life
flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times
along the path of his life
there were only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened
at the very lowest
and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him
and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided
to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed
that during the most troublesome times
in my life there is only one set of footprints.
I do not understand why when I needed you most
you would leave me?"

The Lord replied
"My precious child, I love you and
I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering
when you see only one set of footprints
it was then that I carried you."

Legacy of an Adopted Child

Once there were two women,

Who never knew each other

One you do not remember,

The other you call mother.

Two different lives shaped to make yours one;

One became your guiding star,

The other became your sun.

One gave you life,

And the other taught you how to live.

One gave you a need for love,

And another was there to give it.

One gave you your nationality,

The other gave you your name.

One gave you the seed of talent,

the other gave you aim.

One gave you your emotions,

The other calmed your fears;

One witnessed your first sweet smile

But the other dries your tears.

One sought for you a home

that she could not provide;

The other prayed for a child,

And her hopes were not denied.

And now you ask me through your tears,

The age old question through the years:

Heredity or Environment –

Which are you the product of?

Neither my darling -Neither,

Just two different kinds of Love.
